New York, NY – Jack Rosen, Chairman of the American Council for World Jewry has issued the following statement concerning Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s address to the United Nations Human Rights Council:
“In Geneva earlier today, Secretary Clinton took the opportunity during her address on Libya to urge member states to restore credibility to the cause of human rights, including an end to its obsessive and one-sided anti-Israel agenda. She stressed that the Council can advance the cause of human rights, if the other Council members are prepared to set aside ‘cynical politics’. We completely agree with the Secretary that the focus on Israel ‘undermines the important work we are trying to do together,’ and we welcome her leadership on this issue.”
The American Council for World Jewry brings an American voice of support to Jewish communities overseas, and seeks to build bridges with other communities and regions, particularly in the Muslim world. Its overall goal is to build constructive alliances, combat anti-Semitism, and defend the State of Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state at peace with its neighbors."

Council Chairman Jack Rosen said, "Despite some tensions between the U.S. and Israeli governments over the issue of settlements, President Obama has reaffirmed that such deliberations are more effectively addressed bilaterally rather than through the politicized environment of the United Nations. He also stood firm on the special bond between the United States and Israel."
